Hypnotherapy FAQ's

   Is hypnotherapy safe?

Absolutely! It is not possible to implant suggestions which are against a person's core values. If such a suggestion were to be offered to a client whilst in hypnosis, they would immediately come out of hypnosis and that would be that! Any stage hypnosis you may have seen or heard about - which is generally why this question is asked - the volunteers have already given "mental" permission just by the fact that they volunteered, knowing suggestions such as "bark like a dog". For the rest of us who have no intention of wanting to bark like a dog - that suggestion would have no effect on us!

Do you only use hypnotherapy?

No, not at all. The therapy world is progressing all the time and new interventions and understanding about what therapies work with different symptoms enable me to work with different types of therapies such as changing limiting beliefs, NLP, IEMT, 3 Principles as well as hypnotherapy.

How long will it take?

Generally I see clients between 1 - 6 sessions.

What makes Analytical Hypnotherapy different to Clinical Hypnotherapy

I have been trained in both Analytical and Clinical Hypnotherapy. Clinical Hypnotherapy is when the therapist offers empowering suggestions to the client's unconscious mind. Analytical Hypnotherapy is when the therapist and client work together to get to the root cause of the problem by using a process called free association, whilst the client is in a light state of hypnosis.

I have never been hypnotised and am feeling a bit anxious about it.

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state - you aren't going to feel "zonked" out. You will still have awarenesses and hear what I am saying. The is no such "feeling" associated with being hypnotised - it is like when you are engrossed in a book or the TV - completely focused and relaxed. Anyone can be hypnotised - because it is a naturally occurring state and the hypnotherapist knows how to access and work with that state.
