Panic attacks are a frightening and scary experience. Often panic attacks seem to "come out of the blue" and suddenly make their mark on your life. If you are experiencing panic attacks, in all likelihood, you are feeling a sense of being out of control and very worried about when the next panic attack is likely to occur again. Panic attacks can come on very suddenly and can last for up to 10 minutes and in some cases, even longer.
As frightening as panic attacks are, there is good news in that there is a lot that can be done to get rid of them. It might not feel like that at the moment as you may be all consumed with these anxiety attacks that are suddenly ruling your life and taking up a lot of your time, thinking about them.
The symptoms of panic attacks can often mimic those of having a heart attack, which is why they are so scary. Usual symptoms of panic attacks are :
-
Increase in heart rate
-
Quickness of breathing
-
Sweaty and clammy hands
-
Feeling like blood is draining away from your face
-
A sense of feeling like you might be going mad
-
Enormous sense of fear
-
Sense of helplessness and feeling out of control
-
Feeling light headed or as if you are going to faint
-
Blotchiness of skin
-
Tingling sensation
I have worked with many people who have suffered from panic attacks, using a number of different methods and practically all of my clients have felt enormous relief after just one session. As each case is slightly different, it is difficult for me to state that it only take a certain number of sessions, but on average most of my clients who have consulted me with panic attack and anxiety issues, see me for 3 - 4 sessions.
The first session is between 60 - 90 minutes and each follow up session is between 50 - 60 minutes.
